Her story....

Amy's life tragically very nearly ended before it had hardly begun. Caught by dogcatchers and dumped in Kill Shelter at only 4 months old, she lay frozen with fear, not knowing what fate beheld her.

We had no hesitation in stepping up to rescue her - and after her first winter with our kindly Romanian fosterer, she was finally brought to the UK for fostering by one of our own wonderfully compassionate team. Amy's world is now completely changing for the better - and here's how:

AMY'S UK FOSTERER WROTE IN EARLY AUGUST: her decompression has been an absolute honour to watch....from a scared pup who was so frozen with fear she was like a statue when transport handed her over. She spent 2 days hidden at the back of her covered crate just peeping out when it was quiet. But she was interested in interacting with the other dogs, so she was taken out into the garden with them in a full 3 point harness, long line and slip lead and began her journey to a better life in earnest. She's still very wary of the men in the house, but is brave enough now to go with the other dogs to bark and guard the boundaries from unknown invaders. She goes for walks around the village and down to the nearby river and is gradually encountering more experiences to learn from. She is such a quick learner but still sometimes has to take a moment and process what is happening before deciding its OK, her humans have got her back and she can carry on.

Active and very playful, she herself started playing chase with her female carer (who she trusts the most) after playing games with the other dogs and watching their human interactions. She's even developed enough confidence to take herself away from the other dogs and person she trusts and spend time in her own space and can often be seen happily tossing toys around the garden and chasing them (the same toys she was terrified of only a week ago!)

She is an absolutely delightful little character, and will make someone a very loving, loyal and fun companion once she is ready for her own family. Watch this space....it won't be long now....!
